Before the 15710, before the 15720, there was the 15703. Where the Offshore Diver Started
The 15703 launched in the mid-2000s and ran until the 15710 replaced it. In that window it proved that the Offshore case could work as a serious dive platform. The case construction uses a screw-down crown and caseback to achieve 300 meters of water resistance — the same rating as purpose-built dive watches from brands that do nothing else.
The inner rotating bezel is operated through a secondary crown at 10 o’clock. It only turns counter-clockwise, which is the standard safety feature on dive bezels — if the crown is bumped accidentally, the elapsed time reading can only increase, never decrease. The Cal. 3120 inside runs at 21,600 vph with 60 hours of power reserve, providing the same reliability AP put into every Royal Oak of this era.
15703 vs. Its Successors
The 15710ST that replaced the 15703 kept the same case size and movement but refined the case lines and the crown guard geometry. The current 15720 went further with Cal. 4308 and the quick-change strap system. But the 15703 has its own appeal as the original — slightly softer case angles, the first-generation rubber strap design, and the knowledge that this was the reference that proved the concept.

The visual differences are subtle: slightly different crown guard shaping, a marginally different dial layout, and the original strap attachment system.
